Coping Skills Classes

Collier Counseling, LLC offers a weekly drop-in coping skills class that runs for 8 weeks. The objective of this class is to allow women participants to learn skills for overall wellness that will improve their lives. The unique feature of this course is it does not require the initiation of a therapist-client relationship, does not require an ongoing commitment, and participation is anonymous to other participants. This service allows women to drop in and get a tune up or lesson for the week based on their own emotional and wellness needs. It can also serve as a structured time to invest in their self-care. This service is helpful for women in all stages of their wellness journey. This includes:

  • The woman actively engaging in regular individual counseling with a therapist, as this service would serve as a supplement, not replacement, to her individual counseling.
  • The woman who is not receiving individual counseling services and would like some form of guided skills for wellness.
  • The woman who has stepped down from receiving individual counseling and wants to engage in classes as a form of maintenance.

This drop-in coping skills class is by no means a substitute for therapy or a therapist-client relationship. Participants do not enter into a therapeutic relationship with and do not become clients of Collier Counseling, LLC by attending this class. The class is also not a substitute for treatment of urgent matters that threaten the safety of participants such as self-harm.Β The format and teaching methods of this class are the intellectual property of Collier Counseling, LLC and are not to be duplicated or shared without express permission.

This drop-in class will run 8 weeks. Teaching methods include lecture, videos, guided exercises, modeling skills, and Q&A. The focus will be developing and enhancing coping and relaxation skills. Each class will be 45 minutes.

  • Class 1: Creation of Coping Toolbox and Deep Breathing
  • Class 2: Routine Relaxation
  • Class 3: Becoming Present
  • Class 4: Wise Mind and Duality
  • Class 5: Self-Soothing Part I
  • Class 6: Self-Soothing Part II
  • Class 7: Sleep Hygiene and Nutrition
  • Class 8: Gratitude & Finalize Toolbox

Classes will be held Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:15pm for eight weeks beginning August 11, 2021.The rate is $25 per class.
