GET TO KNOW AUTUMN

“You must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” —Deepak K. Chopra

Autumn Collier, LCSW

Therapist

Welcome! I’m Autumn Collier, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist. I help young women identify and correct what’s not working in their lives while managing life’s transitions with an assertive and fearless spirit.

Truth Seeker

As a result of life’s experiences, we create protective layers so that we can sustain and handle life’s expected and unexpected transitions. While this is natural and a form of self-preservation, our protective layers or coping skills may not be healthy or beneficial. I help young women peel back the layers of themselves that were made to self-protect, and get to know themselves at the core. This process allows us to make sense of current behaviors and answer “Why” we do what we do without shame or judgement.

Assertiveness Guide

I believe “No” is a complete sentence and doesn’t need a cute smile or giggle to go with it. Women often feel obligated to make sure everyone else is okay and our needs go unmet. When we feel unheard, unseen, or disregarded, it affects every aspect of our lives and we may even start to believe we should be unheard. When our behaviors are not congruent with how we feel on the inside, we create imbalance in our lives which feels very uncomfortable and can create feelings of resentment. I help women set boundaries and assertively communicate and behave how they feel to create and maintain inner balance and peace.

Respect and Admiration Advocate

Every great relationship starts with a solid friendship. Friends respect and admire great qualities in each other. It is paramount that this carries over into a romantic relationship. The reality is sometimes the spark in a relationship dims, but the genuine love and admiration does not have to. That is what will get your relationship through the difficult times. Using Gottman Method, I help couples speak each other’s language of love, increase their fondness and admiration, and create deeper meaning within the relationship.

My Therapeutic Approach

One of the greatest factors that influences progress during treatment is the relationship between the clinician and the client. Truth seeking can only occur when the client feels comfortable with and trusting of the therapist. I work to build a trusting relationship with my clients by creating a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share your story and experience the growth you want. We will identify and explore the issues getting in the way of a rewarding career, home life, or relationship. The goal is to help provide you with the insights and skills to move from old, limiting ways of thinking and behaving to healthy coping skills that promote self-growth. The treatment modalities I most commonly use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method for couples.

Just for Fun

My personal life motto is “why not?”. I believe we should do whatever has been placed in our heart to do, especially if it contributes to humanity. I love spending time with my family, trying new restaurants with my girlfriends (so much so I thought about creating a food blog, hey, why not?), and watching college football. Reality TV is a guilty pleasure of mine.
